There are many substantially good reasons to visit Copan. The Main Archaeological Site, for starters, includes the Maya Sculpture Museum, which you can visit for half a day, or if you want to go a little deeper you can also venture into the tunnels that provide a peek into the layered temples beneath the site’s East Court.
We would like to encourage you to stay a little longer, so you can also visit the vestigial residential area of Las Sepulturas, right beside the main site, as well as the impressive Rastrojon site, the location of the University of Harvard’s latest research, newly made available to eager visitors.
A variety of choices are available for your leisurely stay, such as birdwatching in the Macaw Mountain Bird Park, a stroll through the Copan Coffee Tour, or a relaxing afternoon stay at the Luna Jaguar Hot Springs, and for those with a more adventurous extreme preference there is an excellent zip-line thrill at the Copan Canopy Tour, praised as one of the best in Central America. And of course many more activities where daily life in this old-fashioned little town is lustrously reflected. Copan in itself is a tranquil town, with cobblestone streets, lively townspeople, and plenty of different dining choices, all within walking distance of Hotel Marina Copan.
